I'd be lying if I said that I had always dreamed of becoming a potter and owning a ceramics studio.

I always considered myself 'creative', but for years I worked in media, surrounded by structure, deadlines, screens and the constant feeling that everything needed to happen faster.

As an analytical person, who likes to ponder the details, I eventually went looking for the antidote. Sitting at a pottery wheel became the opposite of pace. It asked me to slow down, pay attention and accept that some things simply can't be rushed.

Lucy Jane Ceramics is an extension of that philosophy. My work is made in small batches, with an emphasis on subtle forms and objects that become more meaningful through daily use. I want my work to feel timeless, to settle naturally into a home and to be reached for years from now.

Much of my inspiration comes from travel, design and the small details that are easy to overlook: The way light falls through a window, the texture of timber, the rhythm of making coffee in the morning. I think the objects we use every day deserve the most thought. A mug that feels just right in your hands; a bowl that elevates a simple meal; lighting that changes the atmosphere of a room. These are the pieces I love making.

As my studio evolves, so does my work. Alongside small collections, I'm increasingly drawn to creating bespoke pieces for homes and other spaces - work that is made with intention and designed to become part of everyday life.

If you ask me what Lucy Jane Ceramics is really about, I'd say it's about making space for a slower pace, noticing details that often go unseen, and surrounding ourselves with objects that remind us to do the same.
