Personalised studio sessions
Personalised studio sessions
Whether you're sitting at your pottery wheel for the first time, returning after time away, or looking to refine your existing skills, these personalised sessions are designed for beginner and intermediate potters with their own workspace, who want practical, tailored guidance.
After discussing what your goals are, we'll spend time focusing on the skills you want to develop, using your own wheel, tools and materials. Learning in your own space means you can be confident that everything we cover can be easily repeated once the session is over, helping you build independence in your own practice.
Sessions are available for one person or two people learning together, with a minimum booking of two hours.
Every session is tailored to your goals
Before we organise to meet, we'll discuss what you'd like to achieve so I can plan a session that suits your experience and interests.
Your session could include:
- A complete introduction to wheel throwing if you've just purchased your first wheel
- A refresher after time away from ceramics
- Improving consistency and technique on the wheel
- Troubleshooting common throwing challenges
- Trimming and finishing techniques
- Glaze application and finishing with commercial glazes
- Advice on setting up and working efficiently in your home studio
- Developing good studio habits and workflow
If there's a particular skill you'd like to focus on, just let me know. These sessions are designed to meet you where you are.
Your studio, your equipment
These sessions take place using your pottery wheel, tools and clay. This allows you to become familiar with the equipment you'll continue using long after the session has finished.
You'll generally provide your own materials, although I'm happy to discuss this beforehand and offer advice if you're unsure what you'll need.
After your session
Following your session, you'll receive a summary email outlining any key techniques we covered, along with personalised practice suggestions and any resources or studio recommendations discussed during the session. My aim is to give you clear next steps so you can continue building confidence in your own studio.
Is this for you?
These sessions are ideal if you:
- have your own pottery wheel and would like guidance using it
- want help overcoming a specific challenge
- are returning to ceramics after a break
- would like practical advice for working confidently in your own studio
- prefer one-to-one learning over group classes
If you're not sure whether this is the right fit for you, I'd be happy to chat about your goals and we can go from them.
